D-tox January, Day 26: Coconut Mango Smoothie with Lime from Daily Bites

Hallie Klecker at her Daily Bites blog strikes again. Earlier this month, Hallie posted a fabulous green creamsicle smoothie. So great. It taught me that adding avocado to a smoothie makes for a fabulous creamy texture and so avocado smoothies have become a regular fixture in my house. Today’s coconut mango smoothie with lime looks like another winner. Simple, but fantastically tasty looking. Another must-do.

Am watching American Idol after an evening with C and his friend selecting a song that they are going to use to audition with for their school cabaret. They went through a ton of Beatles songs – they are Beatles crazy. Really crazy. They netted out with ‘When I’m Sixty Four’. Loved watching two 7 year old boys singing that song. So funny thinking of them as little old men.

If I’d been out till quarter to three

When I’m sixty-four?”

Auditions are tomorrow, and with that will begin a crazy few weeks of rehearsals and a ton of fun. The school takes its Cabaret (talent show) pretty seriously and it ends up being quite a production. Love it. Lot’s more breakfast smoothies on the menu to keep up the energy levels needed to become a rock star…

It was creative kind of a day. My friend Jane and I put the voice over track to her detox yoga video. It’s fantastic. I can’t wait to share it here at the end of the month. Quite unbelievable how much can be packed into three minutes. Will leave all who watch it with very little excuse not to exercise at least a tiny bit every day. The video shows a handful of yoga poses that focus specifically on detoxifying your body. Once you learn the poses, you’ll be able to hold them for longer and extend the benefit that you get from them, if you have the time.

A reminder that along with that post at the end of the month, I’ll also be inviting comments and shared recipes for juices, smoothies and detoxifying soups, to be entered into a random draw for the give away of three books. Two copies of Dr David Servan-Schreiber’s Anticancer book and one copy of Rebecca Katz’s One Bite at a Time book. One Bite at a Time, is more than a recipe book. It provides some great advice on healthy nutrition and how to provide your body with what it needs to stay healthy and fight disease. Many recipes are also gluten-free. Love the Beatles and little boys who love the Beatles–too cool and cute. :-) Can’t wait to see that yoga video and love that certain poses can help detox better. Just did my yoga and I’m so glad!   2. First off, I regret I’m finally checking this out at the END of January instead of the beginning! Man, I have a hard time keeping up with this blogging thing. =) I’ve been a detox smoothie girl for a long time and should have jumped into this detox pool with a few recipes of my own. Better late than never (at least on commenting). Love the idea of a month’s worth of wonderful recipes to build on. To me, smoothies are simply raw soup for breakfast! Plus they’re such a good way to use up stalks (like broccoli stalks) and stems and bits and pieces of veggies and fruit. I’ll be checking out all the contributions. This is great!

    This sounds delicious! I just dehydrated the last of our mangos, so we might try substituting pineapple… Coconut should make a really creamy smoothy, and the lime will be a great addition. Hmm. Can’t wait.
