After the rain always comes sunshine

This week is a short but sweet menu plan. There are all sorts of goings on, what with the big 2nd grade play for C and little T at home today and more demanding than ever – roll on Kindergarten!

The menu plan this week is being hosted by Angela’s Kitchen and her chosen theme is Celebrations.

We had a ton of birthday celebrations this paste weekend and I helped C celebrate by making him the amazing gluten-free sugar donuts from the wonderful Cooking for Isaiah cookbook. Silvana Nardone has rock star status in our house. I think I’ve mentioned this before. Am starting to sound like a record whose needle has stuck. Doing that a lot these days… Rather than just talk about how wonderful she is, I have put my money where my mouth is and have selected to ‘adopt’ Silvana for this months adopt a gluten-free blogger event over at the Book of Yum. The sugar-and-spiced donuts were the first thing on the list of recipes to make and document. There are more this week. My menu plan is based around the things in her cookbook that C has earmarked and has wanted me to make for an age.

Monday: Spaghetti and Meatballs from Silvana’s book. Am hoping to whip these up while C is at baseball practice.

Tuesday: Oven-Fried Frito Chicken Fingers, from Silvana’s book – served with mixed veg.

Wednesday: Fried Sole with Creamy Lemon-Pickle Relish from Silvana’s book – again.

Thursday – C’s 2nd grade play: We’ll go out for tacos beforehand with friends. Exiting! He has a big role.

Friday: If we’ve polished off all left-overs, then it’ll be peperoni pizza (also featured in Silvana’s book).

  1. Another delicious week at your house. While the one savory recipe I tried from her book was not appreciated by the celiacs in our house, her chocolate cake and chocolate donut recipes were pronounced the best ever. I had to laugh when after my lukewarm review of the book, I still sold some through my Amazon link and I bet it was due to the praise I gave her cake and donuts in a later post. Will be interested to see how the recipes you are trying turn out.

  5. Ooh. Nicola that photo is absolutely beautiful!! And I wish I could come eat at your house this week! I would love to take a kitchen break while my kids are on Spring Break so that I can just play with them. But there are no magic gluten-free fairies floating around my house ready to whip up our meals! LOL

      Spring break looming here this coming week. I feel a trip on the Ferry to Mariposa in the Ferry Building coming on. ;-)
