Hi Charlotte,
SO sweet of you to comment. Thank you!!! Great to hear from you. Things are a lot better all round now. A lot of C's dietary issues have eased up now that the stresses and strains of illness etc are a thing of the past. Thank Goodness! We are all happy bunnies and living in Hamburg now. ;-).

Hi Nicola
It has been many years but we used to work at Addison together. I noticed you on Sam Hannam's list of friends and took at look at your website and I felt compelled to get in touch and give you an encouraging hug from Blighty. Keep on keeping on - you are doing marvellously. My son and I have all sorts of food issues and I must admit a lot of things rang very true here but thank the lord he has not the stresses to deal with that you 'C' has. All the best. C (Scopes that was!)

Hi Amy. Thanks for your comment! Changing our diet seemed huge and really daunting at first. My initial reaction was to go out and buy every single gluten-free product that I could get my hands on and I attempted to replace the foods we had previously eaten like for like. Over the past months I've leaned that it is far easier - and healthier - to stick to naturally gluten-free foods. There are a ton of them. It's easier on the purse strings too. We eat some gluten-free bread, but not much and really don't miss bread, whereas that was impossible to believe initially as we were a big bread eating family. We use lactose-free, or rice milk. Again, my kids were huge milk drinkers and really aren't missing it at all anymore. The majority of contributors to the D-tox January event, hosted here, are gluten-free bloggers who also provide inspiration for dairy-free options. It's worth taking the time to check out some of their blogs too. Good luck!

I just read your story. Thank you for sharing it! This past summmer, i had a blood test that showed I had multiple allergies/intolerances. I was supposed to go on an elimination diet and meet with a dietician. I haven't yet. I have 3 kids, an amlost 3 year old and twins who will be 2 on Sunday. 2 of my 3 kids are having ENT issues and my husband's holistic doctor immediately said get them off milk immediately! We were looking at surgury for both of them. Thye've been off milk for about 1 week and i totally notice a difference in my older son's breathing! Now it's my turn to eliminate foods. We are going to be a gluten free, dairy free house (maybe not my husband, but me and the kids). I look forward to getting info from your blog since my 3 kids LOVE milk!

Hi, I read your site and am most interested in asking you to permit me to do a feature guest post about you on two of my websites. The first, www.noboobsaboutit.com is a site where breast cancer survivors share how they got through treatment and got on with life, better than ever, as you are doing! Congrats! I am a 2x breast cancer survivor so I can appreciate all that you are accomplishing!

The second site, www.candostreet.com is about helping young children make good choices. Here, I would like to feature you in a guest post on our Parent/Teacher blog which is housed on the "Can Do" Street site, focusing on the challenges of keeping your child satisfied and happy on a gluten free diet. I would also like to feature some of your gluten-free recipes in our section ...Kid-Friendly Recipes.

Your site is so complete on both topics, that I could, with your permission, lift the content for both of my sites and you would not have to write anything additional in less you wanted to.

If, after seeing my sites, this is something you would like to do, you can contact me at jeanc@candostreet.com

I look forward to staying in touch!

Best,

Jean(Campbell)

Hi

just read your page. I can sympathise with your child's problem. I have a 12 year old with severe allergies to dairy, fish, eggs, sesame, nuts, bananas, peas since birth and now intolerance to soya and maize.

Glad your getting to grips with your child's condition, and that you're beating cancer. Good luck.

Hello N!
I wanted to wave Hello from Berkeley and let you know that I admire your blog. Well, it's not only what you write but also HOW you write it. It's heart-breaking, heart-warming and it makes me appreciate my life even more. We haven't spoken in a long time but you should know that L still sometimes talks about C. I remember the time before all this happened in your life and hope that you and your family will find back a way to "normal" life, even with all the big rocks thrown onto your path. Good luck and stay healthy! :-) K
